Biographie

Née à Johannesburg voilà 35 ans, aujourd'hui installée à Berlin, l'artiste Candice Breitz - qui a reçu l'an dernier le Prix international d'art contemporain de la fondation Prince Pierre de Monaco - détourne, pirate, monte, sample. Elle est fascinée par les images produites par les mass medias et le comportement frisant parfois la démence de certains fans. Après avoir fait partie des artistes invités de deux expos précédentes de la Collection Lambert à Avignon,
Théorème (en 2005) et Figures de l'acteur (en 2006), elle a aujourd'hui les honneurs d'une expo exclusivement consacrée à ses propres oeuvres. Outre les photos géantes de la série Monument, on y trouvera ses oeuvres "King" (a portrait of Michael Jackson), "Queen" (a portrait of Madonna), ou encore "Working class Hero" (a portrait of John Lennon).
