By establishing, in 2011, with the support of the Princess Grace Foundation, the Young Audience Prize, the Prince Pierre of Monaco Foundation wished to initiate and sustain an action in favor of contemporary musical composition, among young audiences.

This educational project, conducted in collaboration with the Rainier III Academy of Music and Dramatic Art and the Department of National Education, Youth, and Sports, aims to familiarize young audiences with contemporary music and foster their critical thinking. Each year, they are invited to award a prize of €6,000 to a recent musical work by a renowned composer, based on a list submitted by the Music Council.

The winning work is announced in October during the annual Awards Ceremony.
