Storyteller, adapter, translator, writer, lyricist, librettist, director and widely distributed playwright in Quebec and around the world, Michel Tremblay has written 26 plays, translated into more than 26 languages, 3 musicals, 11 novels, a collection of tales, 3 collections of short stories, 7 film scripts, 17 translations and adaptations and an opera libretto.

Six times a Canada Council grant recipient, he has received more than 30 literary awards, was named a Chevalier de l'Ordre de France and a Chevalier de l' Ordre national du Québec.
With the acceptance of Quebec's post-revolution quiet post-revolution identity, Michel Tremblay gained an important reputation in Quebec literature and was the main inspiration for many Quebec writers and playwrights. In addition, he is now considered to be one of the most important representatives of homosexual literature.

In 2006, he won the Blue Metropolis Grand Prix for his entire body of work.
