Novel

Nicolas Clément was born in 1970 in Bourgoin-Jallieu. After his degree in philosophy, he teaches in college and preparatory classes.

“During dinner, I seek the dad’s eyes to begin a bond, the beginning of a link. He was my prince, the one that I charmed, Sunday evening, with a book of images (he was already silent but I heard his voice). When he dictated, I had words without faults that reminded me my origins; I believed that my thoughts came from his long hair kept to hide us. He is now my sworn enemy, the one that hits without mercy and bones mom’s face.

“This novel of Nicolas Clement, 43 years, philosophy teacher, coats violence with softness, in a language without equal. Grammar full with grace and without any license, the words on the other hand lose sometimes their common sense, are reinvented. By telling it, the narrator repairs the torn history of his family. Reduced to the sleekest, his sentence finds its wayinto the fracturedground of his memory, catches in its mesh the least wonder. Thus it will have the last word on the ugliness of misfortune. A novel of high poetry, quivering of emotion”
