" Ray Bows II "

For chamber orchestra

The tittle is a reference to a rainbow arch form in the French composer spectralist Gerard Grisey’ works: “Vortex Temporum” and “Periodes”.

The warm and subjective impulses are organized in the outer thirds of the arc by seven muses: Gabriel, Daniel, Josephine, Sergei, Leonora, Ricardo and Emmanuel, while the coolly objective summit or middle phase of the temporal arc is marked by the Red color. of the rainbow spectrum. The third phase of the work is resolved symmetrically mirroring the initial state. Inspired by the work of Grisey, the work strives to establish an organic connection between temporal proportions and sound spaces – seven quasi-spectrums like the seven colors of a rainbow.

Premiered on March 6, 2021, by the Sinfonietta Rīga — to whom the work is dedicated —, conducted by Normunds Šnē.
