NOTES
Gestures are born sometimes in a play, develop and proliferate really only in one second and end finally up growing blurred until disappearing in a last when the material arrives at the end of itself, with extinction. Unless in the course of advance these gestures did not metamorphose and opened new ways with the imaginary one, with the sound.

Back- draft, play calling upon seventeen instrumentalists, rests on this idea of return, this idea that a gesture already outlined can (re)take life through a new project, in a new context. Beyond this recontextualization of the gesture and material, Backdraft is placed in the continuity of plays already referring metaphorically to fire, this element often associated with the volcanos (the forging mill of Vulcan, in ancient mythology), with the divine power or with the Hell, frequently represented like the kingdom of the eternal flames.

“Backdraft” is also the scientific translation of the “explosion of smoke” which indicates a phenomenon which can occur during the ignition of a confined atmosphere, saturated with unburnt gases and graphite particles, under the effect of an external oxygen contribution.
