Biography

Delta - Music for Orchestra IV experiments with the phenomena of periodicity and synchronicity of pendulums and waves and in this way again combines my affinity for physics with the poetic and aesthetic dimensions of sound.

Jay Schwartz

Born in 1965 in San Diego, Jay Schwartz studied piano and composition at the University of Arizona where he graduated in 1989. He obtained a grant to pursue his doctorate in musicology at the University of Tübingen.

From 1992 to 1995 he was residing composer at the Staatstheater in Stuttgart. Jay Schwartz composed a lot of music for the stage, ballet (dance / drama) and film musics. Moreover, the biggest festivals of contemporary music commissioned him: Donaueschingen Festival, Venice Biennale, NYYD Estonia...

Among his recent works, we can cite Music for orchestra (2005) for string orchestra and Music for orchestra 2 (2007) for orchestra, Music for 6 voices (2006) for mixed choir or soloists, Echo & Narcissus (2003-2007), chamber opera for contre-tenor, viola and percussion, Music for 8 Autosonic Gongs, Music for Flute and Music for 8 Double Basses (2007).
