for soprano and ensemble

Born in 1968, Lara Morciano began studying piano at an early age and graduated at the Conservatory of Lecce at sixteen. In addition to her concert activities and her advanced studies in piano (with Rodolfo Caporali, Aldo Ciccolini and Franco Scala), she studied choral conducting and composition before obtaining a diploma in advanced composition under the direction of Franco Donatoni at the Académie Nationale Sainte Cécile in Rome in 1995. In 2002 she graduated in composition at the conservatory of Strasbourg in the class of Ivan Fedele.

In 2003, Lara Morciano was in residence at the école Nationale de Musique du Pays de Montbéliard in collaboration with the Centre de creation electroacoustic Tempo Reale in Florence. This is an opportunity for her to develop a project for an interactive music ensemble and to use electroacoustic devices and tools for sound processing there and then.

During the residency, she composed Tangle, for flute and electronics, which will be created by Mario Caroli. That same year, she obtained a commission from the Festival Musica (in collaboration with the CNR of Strasbourg and the CNSM de Lyon) an ensemble of baroque instruments and dance, Intextus. The piece was created in 2003 as part of the Festival. In 2005-2006, she follows the cursus of composition and computer music at IRCAM and turns specifically to the electro-acoustic and musical theater.

Her compositions are played in various events and festivals of contemporary music: Gaudeamus in Amsterdam, Venice Biennale, Edinburgh Festival, etc. She is currently professor of piano and analysis at the conservatory Umberto Giordano in Foggia (Italy).

"An emotional journey a little visional... The word, the verse (that is missing), language as at home, the place to be... representing the idea, the initial suggestion for a treatment of the phonetic material / sound passing through the various expressive plans by underlining them with a continual transformation of color and sound material in the process of repetition of sound / word.

Alliterations, resonance and echoes, alternating different accoustic spaces, breaking and tempered reorganization of sound texture (in a search for homogeneity / differentiation of instrumental gesture and voice) create many changes in the shape and interior sections that accompany and interpret the "narrative journey", advising connections and thin and symbolic references."
