NOTICE

This concert for clarinet and orchestra is a homage to the Spanish painter and sculptor Eduardo Chillida. His work and some of his ideas were present during the composition of the piece.

Elogio del horizonte (which is also the title of a sculpture by Chillida), of musical and poetic form, arise and involve different paths to the horizon which can be seen as the limit and as the ability to see beyond. The work approaches these limits caressing how to pierce the boundaries of perception, and listening. The limits are musical traces through materials such as crossing the audible boundary, where materials, whose speed is set to be impossible, or the limits of perception that arise from the saturation due to too much information... and ultimately limits that are expressed in space: the boundaries of the concert hall, the maximum extensions in the space of sound sources in a composition with four instruments (two duo) an echo: two clarinets and two string instruments (violin and viola). The limits of space are fixed for them, and the solo clarinetist in the center is the focal point where they play with the architecture of limits and where they observe the line of the horizon. The piece is dedicated to the clarinettist Joan Enric Lluna.
